Cookie Policy

How GEM4D uses cookies, local storage, pixels, SDKs, reCAPTCHA, and similar technologies to operate, secure, support, and improve the platform and GEM-hosted projects.

Last updated June 3, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how ION COMPANIES LLC ("ION," "GEM," "GEM4D," "Company," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies, local storage, pixels, SDKs, device identifiers, and similar technologies (collectively, "cookies and similar technologies") on GEM4D, gem4d.com, GEM-hosted projects, builder tools, account pages, marketplace features, wallet features, token services, support tools, documentation, and related services that link to this Cookie Policy (collectively, the "Services").

This Cookie Policy is part of our Privacy Policy and should be read together with our Terms of Use. If a term is not defined here, it has the meaning given in the Privacy Policy or Terms of Use.

COOKIE POLICY OVERVIEW

GEM uses cookies and similar technologies to provide the Services, keep users signed in, secure accounts, process sessions and requests, operate projects, remember preferences, diagnose errors, monitor performance, prevent fraud and abuse, support checkout and wallet features, and improve reliability. Some cookies are necessary for the Services to work. Others help us understand and improve platform performance.

GEM does not use cookies to sell personal information, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or engage in targeted advertising as those terms are defined by applicable U.S. state privacy laws.

WHAT COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES ARE

Cookies are small text files stored on your browser or device by a website. Similar technologies may store or access information in your browser, device, app, or local environment. These technologies can recognize a browser or device, maintain a login session, store interface preferences, support security checks, record operational events, measure performance, and help a service work as expected.

Cookies and similar technologies may collect or store information such as cookie identifiers, session IDs, authentication tokens, device and browser information, IP address, timestamps, pages visited, project activity, feature usage, error events, preference settings, and security or anti-abuse signals. Some of this information may be considered personal information under certain privacy laws.

WHO SETS COOKIES

Cookies may be set by GEM directly, by service providers acting on our behalf, or by third parties whose tools are used in the Services. Cookies may also be set by project owners, third-party scripts, embeds, APIs, media, forms, payment flows, or other integrations added to GEM-hosted projects. Project-owner and third-party technologies may be subject to separate terms, privacy notices, cookie notices, and choices.

CATEGORIES OF COOKIES WE USE

Depending on how you use the Services, GEM may use the following categories of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential and service cookies. These are needed for login, authentication, sessions, CSRF protection, account access, dashboard features, project publishing, project runtimes, checkout, wallet features, marketplace features, support tools, and other core Services.
  • Security and anti-abuse technologies. These help us detect, prevent, and investigate spam, bots, credential stuffing, fake account creation, fraud, payment misuse, unauthorized access, suspicious activity, scraping, abuse, and policy violations.
  • Preference and functionality cookies. These help remember settings, choices, interface state, project editor state, account preferences, and similar information so the Services work more smoothly.
  • Performance, analytics, and diagnostics technologies. These help us understand usage, diagnose errors, monitor uptime and performance, improve reliability, troubleshoot support requests, and maintain the Services.
  • Payment and checkout technologies. Payment providers, including PayPal, may use cookies or similar technologies during checkout, payment review, fraud prevention, chargeback handling, and transaction processing. Payment-provider technologies are also subject to the provider's own terms and privacy practices.
  • Communications and support technologies. Service providers may use cookies or similar technologies to support SMS, email, support tickets, help tools, account notices, and related operational communications.
  • Project technologies. GEM-hosted projects may use cookies or similar technologies based on the project owner's settings, scripts, embeds, forms, integrations, marketplace features, user systems, chat, or project functionality.

GOOGLE RECAPTCHA

GEM uses Google reCAPTCHA for security, fraud-prevention, spam-prevention, and abuse-prevention purposes. reCAPTCHA may collect browser, device, interaction, network, and risk signals to help determine whether activity is human, automated, abusive, or fraudulent. Google states that reCAPTCHA sets a necessary cookie when it runs for risk-analysis purposes.

HOW LONG COOKIES LAST

Cookies may be session cookies, which are generally deleted when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which remain until they expire or are deleted. Local storage and similar technologies may remain until cleared by your browser, device, app, or the relevant service. Cookie duration depends on the technology, provider, feature, browser settings, project settings, and legal or operational requirements.

Security, fraud-prevention, payment, support, and legal records associated with cookie or device identifiers may be retained separately from browser cookies as described in our Privacy Policy.

YOUR COOKIE CHOICES

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block, delete, or receive warnings about cookies. Browser controls vary, and mobile browsers may offer different controls than desktop browsers. You may also be able to clear local storage or site data through your browser or device settings.

Blocking or deleting cookies may prevent login, account security, checkout, wallet features, marketplace features, support tools, project publishing, project runtimes, project-user sessions, saved preferences, reCAPTCHA, or other platform features from working correctly.

Some browsers offer "Do Not Track" signals. Because there is no uniform industry standard for these signals, GEM does not currently respond to them. Where legally required, GEM will treat Global Privacy Control or similar legally recognized browser signals as opt-out requests for sale or sharing of personal information, if applicable to our practices.

NO SALE, SHARING, OR TARGETED ADVERTISING COOKIES

GEM does not use cookies or similar technologies to sell personal information, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or process personal information for targeted advertising as those terms are defined by applicable U.S. state privacy laws. GEM does not knowingly sell or share personal information of users under 16.

If GEM's cookie practices materially change in a way that requires additional notices, opt-outs, or consents, we will update this Cookie Policy and provide any legally required choices.

GEM-HOSTED PROJECTS AND PROJECT OWNERS

GEM-hosted projects may include project-owner scripts, embeds, forms, chat features, user systems, media, marketplace features, analytics, payment flows, APIs, or third-party integrations that use cookies or similar technologies. Project owners are responsible for their own cookie notices, consents, privacy disclosures, age-related controls, and legal compliance for technologies they add, enable, or control in their projects.

If you interact with a GEM-hosted project, the project owner and authorized project team members may access project-user information and project activity connected to that project, as described in our Privacy Policy.

CHILDREN'S COOKIE PRIVACY

GEM is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not create accounts, use builder tools, submit content, publish projects, use chat, or provide personal information through the Services. GEM does not knowingly use cookies or similar technologies to collect personal information from children under 13. Project owners may not use GEM to operate projects directed to children under 13 unless GEM separately approves that use in writing and all required child-privacy compliance measures are in place.

INTERNATIONAL USERS

GEM is operated from the United States and is not intended to intentionally target users in the European Union or United Kingdom. If you access the Services from outside the United States, cookie and privacy laws in your location may differ from U.S. law.

CHANGES TO THIS COOKIE POLICY

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted with a new "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice where required by law. Your continued use of the Services after an updated Cookie Policy is posted means the updated Cookie Policy applies going forward, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
